Allen Jorgensen
Practice owner, business process guru, and card carrying cheapskate!
It would be hard to argue that Allen isn't one of the best dental office managers on the planet. One day of watching his
wife Bridgett's seven figure general dental practice run, with no charts in sight, with only one (usually bored)
front desk person, with every single insurance claim over 30 days old fully accounted for, with an accounts
receivable ratio that any office would die for, etc., etc., etc., should qualify him for the Office Managers Hall of Fame.
Allen has been involved in computers since high school, when he started selling Apples at the local computer store.
By the time he was a senior, he was managing three of the stores, and in fact, he missed his own graduation ceremony
because of his management responsibilities!
A few years later, as the main support guy for the number one salesperson of a worldwide software company, he learned that there's a big difference between
what goes on in a software demonstration and an actual installation, and he learned how to make software meet the
expectations, goals and objectives of the end user. This experience would be invaluable later, in Bridgett's dental
practice, when he assumed the role of "chief software implementer and customizer." That's when they started to truly benefit from the
power of their software, with much greater efficiency in every aspect of their practice.
Although he's every bit as much a gadget geek as Joel, he doesn't believe in using technology just because it's possible.
A perfect example is his insistence that their practice be "chartless," but not "paperless," because in some cases, paper
makes more sense to use and keep than any high tech replacement. But once he does decide to use a new technology, he can
wring every bit of practical benefit from it - his implementation of PracticeWorks is just one example.
A "card carrying cheapskate," he's constantly looking for ways to keep more of what the practice produces, and almost
gleefully shares his cheapskate secrets with anyone who will listen. You're almost guaranteed to learn at least one significant money saving tip
from any seminar Allen teaches or article he writes.
Over the past 20 years, Allen has helped hundreds of dental practices implement high tech in their practices.
Many of these have been PracticeWorks users, but more have not. He's conducted seminars for dentists
in the US, the Bahamas, and Australia.
